Small Graces

By Elizabeth Florez

It was good to know you, good like the smell of a desert flower in the spring– sweet and warm– giving me color. I remember you clearly; the way your arms moved engraved in my mind. Forgive me for memorizing the sound of your hellos and forgetting you ever said goodbye.

Elizabeth Florez is a poet and creative based in northwestern New Mexico. She writes in the quiet hours between work, farm chores, and coffee breaks. Her poetry is inspired by her faith, her connection to others–both friends and strangers–and the natural world around her. This marks her debut publication.
